For many spa owners, regular service and maintenance from a professional are worth it. Regular service can help to ensure that your spa water is always safe, enjoyable, and ready to use. A professional can also use this time to inspect your spa, looking for any issues or potential problem areas that could lead to damage, an imbalance in water, or costly repairs, and rectifying the situation before it grows into a larger issue.
How long you stay inside a hot tub can depend on several deciding factors, including your age, health, climate, water temperature, and personal preference. As a general rule of thumb, it is suggested to soak in a hot tub for anywhere from 15-45 minutes at a temperature of up to 102° F.
If you are new to using a hot tub, we suggest starting with shorter soaks until you gradually build your tolerance, adjust to the environment or find which suits you best. If you have a pre-existing health condition, we suggest that you first speak with your physician to ensure the safest way to enjoy hydrotherapy.
Cleaning hot tubs is the best practice for an enjoyable soak. How often and in what manner you clean your hot tub will depend on two factors: how often the spa is used and the manufacturer.
- Test your hot tub water with test strips once or twice a week.
- Treat your hot tub water accordingly based on the readings from the test strips.
- Clean the filter every two weeks with water from the hose.
- Drain, clean, and fill the hot tub once every three to four months.

Drain hot tub questions: How often you change your hot tub water can depend greatly on how often the spa is used, the quality of water used to fill it, and how well the water is maintained. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend draining, cleaning, and refilling the hot tub every three to four months for an optimal operation.
A clean and functioning filter is key to an operational filtration system, as it catches and removes dirt and debris, keeping the water clean and free of impurities. We recommend rinsing the filter every two weeks with fresh water from the hose or kitchen sink. You can also use this time to spray it down with a filter cleaner and then continue to rinse.
Filter cleaning nozzles are available that can be attached to the end of a hose, which can help water to better reach the nooks and crannies of your filter. Soak your filter overnight in a bucket filled with water and a small amount of filter cleaner every two months to remove deep-down debris. We recommend replacing your hot tub filter annually to ensure a fully functional filtration system.
Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic technique that harnesses the healing properties of water. What is hydrotherapy? The combination of heat, buoyancy, and massage helps to relax muscles, ease sore joints, improve circulation, and reduce muscle tension. Used by healthcare professionals all around the world, hydrotherapy can help to improve sleep patterns, reduce stress, ease aches and pains, aid in post-injury recovery, and soothe sore joints, among many other health benefits.
Making the decision to buy a hot tub is a big one. It’s not something you do every day, after all. Your lifestyle can have a significant impact on the decision to purchase a hot tub. Before making the decision, ask yourself these following questions:
- Where in my backyard will I install a hot tub?
- Will the hot tub be for my entire family, or just for me?
- Will I benefit from fewer aches and pains, better sleep, and reduced stress?
- Will I enjoy the convenience of access to a hydromassage in the comfort of my own home?
- Will my family benefit from the additional family time in the spa?
If you said yes to one or more of the questions above, a hot tub might be right for you! Speak with one of our team members to learn more about the prices, sizes, and brands available to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sauna Questions & Answers
The main difference between an infrared sauna and a traditional sauna is how they create heat. A traditional sauna uses a heater (electric, gas, or wood-burning) to heat the air inside the room, and that hot air warms your body. Temperatures are typically higher—around 150–190°F—and you can add water to the rocks to create steam and increase humidity. An infrared sauna uses infrared light to heat your body directly instead of heating the surrounding air. Because of this, the air temperature stays lower, usually between 120–140°F, but you still produce a deep sweat.
In terms of benefits, both types help with relaxation, improved circulation, muscle recovery, and stress relief. Traditional saunas are often preferred for cardiovascular conditioning and the classic hot, steam-filled experience that promotes intense sweating. Infrared saunas are popular for people who want a gentler heat, longer sessions, and targeted muscle and joint relief. Many users say infrared feels more comfortable while still delivering detoxification, recovery, and relaxation benefits.
Yes, infrared saunas do require maintenance, but it’s generally minimal compared to many other home wellness products. Since they don’t use water, steam, or sauna rocks, there’s no plumbing, drainage, or heating elements to descale or replace regularly. Most of the upkeep simply involves wiping down the interior benches and walls after use to prevent sweat buildup, keeping the unit clean, and occasionally vacuuming or dusting the heaters and vents.
Beyond basic cleaning, maintenance mainly consists of checking that the electrical connections, control panel, and heaters are functioning properly. High-quality infrared saunas are designed to be low-maintenance and long-lasting, especially when used indoors in a dry environment. With simple routine care, an infrared sauna can provide years of reliable performance.
Most people use an infrared sauna for 20 to 30 minutes per session, which is a good balance between getting a deep sweat and staying comfortable. Because infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures (typically 120–140°F), many users find they can comfortably stay in longer than they would in a traditional sauna. If you’re new to infrared therapy, it’s smart to start with 10–15 minutes and gradually increase your time as your body adjusts.
For general wellness, 3–5 sessions per week is common, but even a few sessions a week can provide benefits like relaxation, improved circulation, and muscle recovery. The key is to listen to your body, stay hydrated before and after your session, and step out if you ever feel lightheaded or uncomfortable.
Red light therapy works by shining safe, low-level red and near-infrared light onto your skin. This light goes below the surface and helps your cells make more energy. When your cells have more energy, they can repair and renew themselves more effectively.
Because of this, red light therapy can help improve skin tone, boost collagen, reduce inflammation, and support muscle and joint recovery. It’s gentle, doesn’t hurt, and doesn’t use heat — which makes it an easy and relaxing treatment for overall wellness.
Most people sit in front of a red light panel for about 10 to 20 minutes per session. The exact time can depend on the strength of your panel and how far you’re sitting from it, but this range works well for general wellness, skin health, and recovery.
For best results, position yourself about 6 to 12 inches away (unless your manufacturer recommends otherwise) and use it 3 to 5 times per week. Consistency matters more than long sessions, so shorter, regular use is typically more effective than occasional longer treatments.
